The National Testing Agency (NTA) finally released the CUET UG 2026 results on its official website. A total of 15,68,867 candidates had registered for the exam, while 11,64,098 appeared for it. The numbers highlight the massive competition for admission to India's top universities. But while attention is on the results, one question remains — who secured the highest scores and emerged as this year's top performers?
A Delhi Girl Tops the Nation
Devina Gahlot from Delhi NCT has secured All India Rank 1 in CUET UG 2026 with an aggregate NTA score of 1232.19 out of 1250. A student of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, Devina scored full marks in Economics, Political Science and Psychology, while missing one question each in English and Fine Arts.
Saksham Goel from Delhi NCT secured the second position with an aggregate score of 1230.82, while Udit Chaturvedi from Himachal Pradesh ranked third with 1207.21. The top scores this year show how competitive CUET UG has become, especially for students aiming for top central and participating universities.
According to NTA data, one candidate secured 100 percentile in four subjects, 22 candidates scored 100 percentile in three subjects, 180 candidates achieved it in two subjects, and 3,214 candidates scored 100 percentile in one subject.
While the toppers have made headlines, the next challenge for most candidates begins now — cut-offs, counselling, course preferences and university-wise admission procedures.

What Score Do You Actually Need?
This is the question most students are asking after the results. And it is the one that matters the most.
A score between 850 and 900 is generally considered strong for admission to many top universities. Students with 700 to 750 marks also have good chances at several central universities. However, getting into top colleges becomes more difficult with scores below 600.
For Delhi University, top colleges usually require 750 to 850 marks for General category students. The cutoff is generally lower for OBC and SC candidates.
But marks alone do not guarantee admission. The universities you choose and how quickly you complete the admission process can make all the difference.
240+ Universities. One Scorecard. Choose Wisely.
More than 240 universities across India are accepting CUET UG 2026 scores, including Delhi University, JNU, BHU, and AMU. Each university has its own admission process. Some prepare merit lists only on CUET scores, while others may have additional requirements. Counselling is expected to begin in July. Seats are limited, and competition is intense. The admission race has already started. And that is what many students are overlooking.

4 Lakh Students Registered — Then Disappeared. Here Is Why
The number of CUET registrations increased from 13.54 lakh in 2025 to 15.68 lakh in 2026. However, more than 4 lakh registered candidates did not appear for the exam. The reasons behind this gap remain unclear, as NTA has not released a detailed analysis.
CUET was introduced in 2022 to create a more uniform admission process for universities. But for many students, the journey has become more demanding. They now have to prepare for both board exams and CUET at the same time. Students from smaller towns and first-generation college aspirants often face additional challenges while choosing subjects, completing registrations, and understanding the counselling process. Yet these struggles rarely receive the attention they deserve.
What If Your Score Is Not Enough?
Not every student will get admission to their preferred university. But that does not mean all opportunities are gone.
- Many state universities offer admission through board exam marks. Some also conduct their own entrance tests.
- Private universities are still accepting applications. Students can explore these options if they miss their preferred colleges.
- Diploma and vocational courses remain strong alternatives. They help students build skills and start career-focused learning.
Students who are unhappy with their performance can appear for CUET again next year. One exam result does not decide your future. What matters now is how quickly and wisely you use the opportunities available to you.
