This will be the third NDA government in Assam. The alliance first came to power in 2016 under Sarbananda Sonowal, who is now a Union minister.
The NDA won 102 seats in the 126-member Assam Assembly. The BJP secured 82 seats, while its allies AGP and BPF won 10 seats each.
Officials said more than one lakh people are likely to attend the swearing-in ceremony, including BJP panchayat presidents and members from across the state.
Security has been tightened across Guwahati ahead of the event. Central and state police forces are monitoring the situation, while different departments are coordinating arrangements at the venue under the supervision of Chief Secretary Ravi Kota.
Ahead of taking oath, Sarma said his government would focus on implementing the BJP’s election promises and carrying forward its development agenda in the new term. The swearing-in will formally begin what the BJP-led alliance has described as “NDA 3.0” in Assam.
