Airtel Business and state-owned telecom equipment maker ITI Limited have signed an agreement to jointly provide connectivity, cloud, data centre, cybersecurity, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence services to businesses and government organisations in India.
The two companies said the partnership would help organisations replace old technology systems, connect offices and factories, protect business data and manage operations from a common platform.
The announcement did not disclose the value or duration of the agreement. The companies also did not provide a rollout schedule, revenue-sharing arrangement or details of any confirmed customer projects.
What will the partnership offer?
Airtel Business and ITI plan to jointly work on projects covering:
- Optical fibre and fibre broadband connectivity
- Private 4G and 5G networks for factories and campuses
- Software-managed networks for connecting offices
- Data centre and cloud services that keep data and control within India
- Tracking of industrial equipment through connected sensors
- AI-based analysis of business and operational data
- Cybersecurity monitoring and protection
- Low Earth Orbit satellite connectivity

Banks, public sector undertakings, government departments, manufacturing companies and other organisations that handle sensitive information are expected to be among the target customers.

Why the Airtel and ITI Partnership Matters
The agreement brings together two companies with different areas of operation. Airtel Business provides connectivity, cloud, data centre, cybersecurity and communication services. ITI manufactures telecom and defence equipment and carries out network and government technology projects.
Airtel Business reported revenue of ₹5,665 crore in the April-June 2026 quarter, an increase of 12% from the same period a year earlier. Bharti Airtel said the growth was supported by its connectivity and digital services businesses. Airtel’s total customer base across 15 countries stood at about 681 million at the end of June 2026. Its work includes optical fibre equipment, telecom networks, encryption products, defence communication systems and projects such as BharatNet. ITI company information
The timing of the agreement is linked to rising spending on cloud systems, data storage, private networks and cybersecurity. India’s digital economy contributed 11.74% of the country’s GDP in 2022-23, equal to about ₹31.64 lakh crore. It supported 14.67 million jobs and is projected to contribute close to 20% of national income by 2029-30, according to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Focus on government and defence projects
The companies said they would also explore projects connected with India’s defence and security requirements. These projects are expected to focus on domestic manufacturing under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat programmes.
This part of the partnership could help ITI and Airtel Business compete for government contracts involving secure networks, locally stored data, private communication systems and cybersecurity.
The actual impact of the agreement will depend on the projects secured, the investment committed by both companies and the time taken to begin commercial deployment. None of these details was provided in the announcement.
