Four Jawans Injured After Accidental Blast Near LoC in J&K’s Nowshera
Four Army personnel, including a junior commissioned officer, were injured in an explosion near the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday
One Junior Commissioned Officer and three jawans were injured on Tuesday in an accidental blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district.
According to officials, the explosion took place while Army personnel were carrying out a routine patrol in the Kalal forward area along the LoC. The injured personnel froOne Junior Commissioned Officer and three jawans were hurt on Tuesday in an accidental blast near the Line of Control (LoC). It happened in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said the blast occurred during a routine patrol in the Kalal forward area along the LoC. The injured soldiers belong to a unit linked to the Kumaon Regiment. They were evacuated quickly and taken to a hospital for treatment.
This is the third such incident in about a week. Four days earlier, on June 12, two soldiers from the 12 Bihar Regiment were badly hurt in an accidental grenade blast during training near the LoC in Poonch district. Two days before that, on June 10, two soldiers from 8RR died in another accidental blast in the Kamalkote area of Uri, in Baramulla district.

Officials are calling Tuesday's blast accidental. Early reports say it happened during a routine patrol meant to watch for infiltration. There is no sign of enemy action so far. A detailed probe will confirm the exact cause.
Forward areas along the LoC are risky by nature. The terrain is tough, security presence is heavy, and old explosive hazards remain from past operations. Landmines placed to stop infiltration sometimes shift due to rain or soil movement, putting soldiers at risk without warning. One report said Tuesday's blast was caused by a Multi-Mode Grenade that went off during the patrol.
The wounded soldiers were rushed to the Army's 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for advanced treatment. Despite the medical team's efforts, two jawans later died from their injuries. They were identified as Vikram Balakrishna Chavan of Airoli, Maharashtra, and Arjun Rajindra Jadhav of Shahpur village, Karad tehsil, Satara district, Maharashtra.m a unit associated with the Kumaon Regiment were immediately evacuated from the site and shifted to a medical facility, where they are undergoing treatment.

Tuesday’s blast came four days after two Army personnel from 12 Bihar Regiment were severely wounded in an accidental grenade explosion during a training exercise near the LoC in J&K’s Poonch district on June 12.
Two days before this, two 8RR soldiers from Maharashtra died in yet another accidental blast near the LoC in Kamalkote area of Uri, in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on June 10.
The blast is being described as accidental in nature. Initial reports suggest that the incident occurred during an area domination and surveillance operational patrol in an area where troops regularly maintain vigil against infiltration
attempts. There was no immediate indication of enemy action or foul play. Officials said the exact cause of the explosion would be established after a detailed assessment.

Forward areas along the LoC remain highly sensitive, marked by difficult terrain, heightened security deployment and the presence of explosive hazards associated with operational conditions. Accidental activation of landmines laid as part of anti-infiltration measures near the de facto border is not uncommon. At times, heavy rain or shifting soil can displace these mines, leaving soldiers vulnerable to unexpected accidents. One report said Tuesday’s blast was caused by a Multi-Mode Grenade that exploded during the patrol.
Officials said the blast occurred in a forward area along the LoC under accidental circumstances, prompting an immediate emergency response by the Army.
