Greater Noida, June 11: The 1st Cambridge School Open Chess Tournament 2026 concluded successfully today in Greater Noida after three days of exciting and competitive chess action. The tournament brought together young chess players from several schools and academies, giving them a strong platform to showcase their talent, patience and strategic skills.

The concluding day featured matches in the Under-11 and Under-17 categories. A total of 25 players from 12 different schools and academies participated on the final day and competed for top honours. Throughout the event, young participants displayed impressive concentration, tactical awareness, discipline and sportsmanship.

Results of Day 3 at - 1st Cambridge School Open Chess Tournament 2026

  • In the Under-11 Boys category, Param Kaliraman of 21K School emerged as the winner, while Yuvaan Aggarwal of Gyanshree School secured the runner-up position.
  • In the Under-11 Girls category, Shanzay Hayat of The Indian School won the title. Krisha Kapari of Saraf Public School, Khatima finished as the runner-up.
  • The Under-17 Boys title was won by Yash Arora of Little Flowers Public School. Angad Raj Khanna of Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon finished as the first runner-up.
  • In the Under-17 Girls category, Tanavya Kapari of Saraf Public School secured the top position, while Tabinda Atif of Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri finished as the runner-up.

The tournament also recognised the youngest participants for their enthusiasm and confidence. The Youngest Player Award in the boys’ category was presented to Pratham Mishra of Mayoor School, Noida.

In the girls’ category, the award went to Krisha Kapari, who also secured the runner-up position in the Under-11 Girls category.

The event witnessed several thrilling matches as young players showed calmness under pressure and strong decision-making on the chessboard. Parents, coaches and spectators appreciated the participants for their dedication, discipline and competitive spirit.

Speaking on the successful completion of the tournament, Rashmi Bhardwaj, Headmistress, Cambridge School, Greater Noida, said that, “The tournament was very well organised, and I would like to sincerely thank all the parents for taking time out to support their children. While the players were competing upstairs for three to four hours, the parents patiently waited downstairs, encouraging and motivating them throughout. It is not only the coaches and players who make such tournaments successful; parents also play a very important role by being patient, supportive and present whenever their children need them. Their constant encouragement gives young players the confidence and motivation to perform better, learn from every game and continue growing in the sport.”

Kushank Rustagi, Sports Executive (SAE), said that the response to the event exceeded expectations. He shared that a total of 111 participants across six different categories competed in the three-day championship.

He further added that Cambridge School remains committed to organising more such events in the future to promote sports for all, encourage healthy competition and provide young athletes with opportunities to display their talent and grow with confidence.

The successful conclusion of the 1st Cambridge School Open Chess Tournament 2026 marks an encouraging step towards nurturing young chess talent and promoting mind sports among school students.
