Greater Noida, June 10, 2026: The 1st Cambridge School Open Chess Tournament 2026 continued on an energetic note on its second day at Cambridge School, Greater Noida, with young chess players from different schools and academies competing with focus, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Day 2 of the tournament featured matches in the Under-9 and Under-15 categories. A total of 47 players from 29 schools and chess academies participated, making the day another strong showcase of emerging chess talent in Greater Noida and the NCR region.

The young participants impressed parents, coaches, and spectators with their tactical moves, patience, and ability to stay calm under pressure. From quick openings to carefully planned endgames, several matches reflected the growing interest of children in chess as a competitive mind sport.

Youngest Participants Win Applause

One of the key highlights of Day 2 was the participation of the tournament’s youngest players. Pratyaksh Dutta from Amity International School, Noida, aged 6 years and 3 months, and Shivya Tiglania from Makoons Play School, aged 4 years and 11 months, received special appreciation for their enthusiasm and confidence.

Shivya Tiglania’s performance stood out as she secured first place in the Under-9 Girls Category, becoming one of the most inspiring performers of the day. Her achievement drew appreciation from parents, coaches, and spectators, as she competed with confidence against other young players.

Over 85 Players Participate in First Two Days

Sharing details about the tournament, Kushank Rustagi, Sports Executive (SAE), said that the response to the championship has been extremely encouraging. He mentioned that more than 85 participants from 30 different schools and academies have taken part over the first two days.

He further shared that the organisers are expecting around 30 more participants on the final day, where matches will be held in the Under-11 and Under-17 categories.
