Missed the deadline? Here's some good news for IGNOU students.

Students studying through distance learning at IGNOU now have more time to continue their courses. The university has extended the last date for July 2026 re-registration. This gives lakhs of students another chance to complete the proces.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has made the announcement. Students can now re-register until July 15, 2026 for the July 2026 academic session. The extension applies to all undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes. Earlier, the deadline was June 30.

The extra time will help students who could not complete their re-registration before the earlier deadline. However, students should not wait until the last moment. They must complete the process before the new deadline to continue their studies without any issues.

Who Falls Under This Deadline?

The re-registration process is only for existing IGNOU students who want to continue to the next semester or academic year. Students applying for fresh admission must complete a separate admission process.

It covers students enrolled in:

  • BA, BCom, BCA, BBA, MA, MCA, MBA, and other UG and PG programmes.
  • Annual and semester-based courses.
  • Programmes in Science, Commerce, Arts, Information Technology (IT), and Management.

Students should not ignore this process. If they fail to re-register on time:

  • The university may stop sending their study material.
  • They may face problems in appearing for term-end examinations.
  • Their academic progress could be affected until the re-registration is completed.

Apply Online: Step-by-Step

The entire re-registration process is online, so students can complete it from home without visiting any IGNOU centre.

Follow these steps:

  • Visit the IGNOU Online Re-registration Portal at onlinerr.ignou.ac.in.
  • Log in using your enrollment number and password.
  • Select the subjects or courses for your next semester or academic year.
  • Pay the required fee through UPI, net banking, debit card, or credit card.
  • Submit the form and save a copy of the confirmation receipt for future reference.

Re-registration fee

The standard re-registration fee is ₹300 per course. Students should complete the process before the deadline. A late fee of ₹200 may apply for certain programmes after the registration window closes.

The Hidden Trap Most Reports Miss

Students are advised to complete their re-registration as early as possible. In the final days, the IGNOU portal often faces heavy traffic. This can cause problems such as OTP failures, payment errors, and website crashes.

IGNOU officials say that students who register early usually face fewer technical issues. The university has also not announced any further extension of the deadline. Waiting until the last moment could result in unnecessary delays or missed registration.
