In a major move that has once again pushed the debate around UFOs and extraterrestrial life into the global spotlight, the U.S. Government has released the first batch of declassified files related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, commonly known as UAPs or UFOs.
The files have been made public through a dedicated government portal, war.gov/ufo, under what has been described as a broader transparency initiative ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump. The newly launched archive is being presented as the first tranche of records, with more documents expected to be released in the coming weeks.

According to the U.S. Department of War, the records include unresolved cases where the government has not been able to make a final determination about the nature of the objects or phenomena observed. Officials have said the material is being released for public review, research, and independent analysis.
The first batch reportedly contains around 160 declassified files, including videos, photographs, military reports, transcripts, and eyewitness accounts collected over several decades. These records involve multiple U.S. agencies, including defence authorities, NASA, the FBI, and intelligence-linked departments.
Among the most discussed material are images linked to NASA’s Apollo missions, including photographs from Apollo 17 that appear to show unexplained lights or objects near the lunar surface. Other records reportedly include accounts of unusual aerial objects seen by military personnel, including orb-like objects, fast-moving lights, and objects described in some reports as cigar-shaped or football-shaped.

The release has also renewed attention on earlier Pentagon UFO videos captured by U.S. Navy aircraft. These videos, some recorded through forward-looking infrared cameras, had earlier triggered global debate after being leaked and later officially acknowledged by the Pentagon. The recordings showed objects moving in unusual patterns, prompting questions from pilots, scientists, lawmakers, and the public.
However, officials have not claimed that the released material proves the existence of alien life. The term “UAP” is used for aerial or space-related observations that remain unidentified after review. In many past cases, such sightings have later been linked to drones, balloons, aircraft, atmospheric effects, camera artifacts, or limitations in sensor data.
The move comes at a time when the subject of UFOs has increasingly entered mainstream political and scientific discussion in the United States. Over the past few years, U.S. lawmakers have held hearings on UAPs, military personnel have testified about unexplained sightings, and government agencies have faced growing pressure to disclose more information.
For now, the biggest update is clear: the U.S. has officially opened a fresh public archive of unresolved UFO and UAP-related records, and this is only the beginning of a longer release process.
While the files have sparked excitement among UFO enthusiasts, experts are urging caution. Unidentified does not automatically mean extraterrestrial. It simply means that available data has not yet been enough to explain what was seen.
Still, for the public, researchers, and those who have long demanded transparency, this marks a significant moment. For the first time, a large set of U.S. Government records on unexplained aerial phenomena is being made available through a dedicated public platform, giving people a chance to examine the material themselves and draw their own conclusions.
