Google Pay has unveiled 'Ask Google Pay', an AI-powered conversational financial assistant designed to help users better understand and manage their finances. Alongside this, the company has expanded its credit offerings with the launch of the Google Pay Flex SBI Card, aiming to make digital credit more accessible for Indian users.
AI Assistant to Help Users Understand Their Money
Powered by Google's Gemini AI models, Ask Google Pay is an optional in-app feature that allows users to analyse their spending habits through simple conversations. The feature is designed to answer questions related to expenses, provide personalised saving suggestions, explain financial concepts, and recommend suitable financial products based on users' spending behaviour.
Using transaction history and, where permitted, credit report data, the assistant can generate tailored insights such as monthly spending summaries, travel-related credit card recommendations, and budgeting tips.

The AI assistant also supports 10 Indian languages, enabling users to interact using text or voice in their preferred language. Apart from analysing expenses, users can ask questions about financial concepts including SIPs, credit scores, compounding interest, taxation, and different income tax regimes.
Google clarified that Ask Google Pay is intended purely for educational and informational purposes and that users retain complete control over their financial data.
