The Indian stock market remained mixed around midday on Tuesday after recovering from losses recorded at the opening. According to Trendlyne's intraday market data, the Nifty 50 stood at 22,762.75, up 9.55 points at 11:41 AM, while the Sensex was down 67.26 points at 73,539.49 at 11:35 AM.
Buying continued in selected automobile, pharmaceutical and power stocks, while information technology shares faced selling pressure. According to Moneycontrol's intraday updates, Bajaj Auto, Cummins India and Power Grid were trading more than 2% higher shortly before noon.
PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar, was trading at ₹1,022.50 at 11:45 AM, marginally below its previous closing price of ₹1,023, according to Bajaj Finserv's NSE-linked quote. Investors continue to assess the possible effect of proposed insurance commission rules on the company's distribution business.
Gold and silver were also under pressure in the latest independently verified morning commodity readings. December gold futures were trading at ₹1,42,890 per 10 grams and silver futures at ₹1,94,055 per kilogram at 10:31 AM.
Investors are monitoring quarterly earnings, crude oil prices and the US Federal Reserve's forthcoming policy decision. The Nifty has recovered from its morning low, but the mixed performance of large companies indicates that buying remains uneven.

Sensex and Nifty Today: What Is Happening in the Stock Market?

|---|---|---|---|
| Nifty 50 | 22,762.75 | +9.55 (+0.04%) | 11:41 AM |

At 11:27 AM, it was quoted at ₹1,025.50. At 11:45 AM, the reported price was ₹1,022.50, marginally below the previous close of ₹1,023.00. The stock's reported intraday range was ₹1,015.20 to ₹1,041.90
The figures show how quickly the market changed direction.
At the opening, selling in IT companies had pushed the Sensex down by more than 300 points. Infosys, TCS and HCL Technologies were among the stocks under pressure.
By 10 AM, the Sensex had moved into positive territory, while the Nifty was trading close to 22,800.
The recovery was not limited to large companies. According to Reuters' 9:49 AM report, 12 of the 16 major sectors were trading higher. The small-cap index had gained 1.7%, while the mid-cap index was up 0.5%.
That difference matters. While the Sensex and Nifty showed limited movement, a larger number of stocks were participating in the recovery.

Why Are Gold, Silver and Crude Oil Important for the Stock Market This Week?
The three commodities affect investors in different ways.
Gold often attracts attention during periods of economic or political uncertainty, but its price can also respond to changes in the US dollar and interest rates.
Silver is influenced by investment demand and industrial use. This makes its price sensitive to both financial conditions and expectations for manufacturing activity.
Crude oil has a more direct effect on India because the country depends heavily on imports.

Brent crude was trading near $114.90 a barrel in early trade, while West Texas Intermediate futures were around $100.98 a barrel.
Higher oil prices can increase the cost of imports, affect the rupee and raise expenses for airlines, transport companies, chemical manufacturers and other oil-consuming businesses.
Oil producers may respond differently because their earnings depend partly on selling prices and government policy.
For this reason, changes in crude prices are likely to remain relevant for the stock market throughout the week.
EAAA India Alternatives IPO
The EAAA India Alternatives issue is structured as an offer for sale of approximately ₹1,200 crore.
This means investors should pay particular attention to the selling shareholder, company valuation, assets managed by the business and the risks disclosed in the prospectus.
BLS Polymers and SFC Environmental Technologies IPOs

BLS Polymers is raising capital through a fresh equity issue. SFC Environmental Technologies' proposed offering includes both fresh shares and shares offered for sale by existing shareholders.
Before applying, investors should review the companies' revenue, profitability, debt, proposed use of funds and valuation relative to comparable listed companies.

Jio Platforms IPO: Listing Expected This Week
Jio Platforms is expected to make its stock market debut on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, subject to exchange confirmation.
The listing is likely to attract attention because of the company's scale and its connection with Reliance Industries.
Investors considering the stock after listing should distinguish between the IPO issue price and the actual market price once trading begins. A listing premium is not guaranteed, and a high opening price does not establish how the stock will perform afterward.

What Should Investors Do This Week?
For investors who already own shares, the relevant question is whether the reason for holding a company has changed.
PB Fintech shareholders need to assess regulatory developments alongside the company's financial performance. Investors in IT companies need to examine management guidance and customer demand. Those tracking oil-sensitive businesses should monitor energy prices and the rupee.
For anyone considering a new IPO, the offer document and valuation deserve more attention than unofficial grey-market premiums.
Dividend announcements also need context. The dividend amount should be considered alongside the share price, earnings, cash flow and the company's ability to maintain future payouts.
In the coming sessions, a sustained recovery in the Nifty would require buying to continue beyond a few companies. If crude oil stays elevated or company earnings disappoint, selling could return.
Neither outcome is certain.
