Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level late-night meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) on April 1 to assess India’s preparedness in light of the escalating conflict in West Asia.
The meeting brought together key ministers and senior officials to evaluate potential economic and strategic risks arising from the ongoing tensions in the region. Discussions focused on ensuring that critical sectors of the economy remain insulated from global disruptions.
A major part of the review centred on maintaining uninterrupted supplies of essential commodities such as fuel, fertilisers, and power. With West Asia being a crucial hub for energy exports, the government is taking precautionary steps to avoid any supply shocks or price instability in the domestic market.
The Prime Minister directed concerned ministries to closely monitor global developments and prepare contingency plans to manage any emerging challenges. Efforts are also being aligned to maintain adequate reserves and diversify sourcing channels where necessary.
Sectors including agriculture, transport, logistics, and industry were also reviewed to ensure operational continuity. The government is particularly focused on keeping inflation under control and preventing any cascading impact on businesses and consumers.
Additionally, emphasis was placed on coordinated action between central ministries and state governments to respond swiftly to any developments. The need for clear communication and avoidance of misinformation was also highlighted during the meeting.
