Ghaziabad Khoda Murder Case: Main Accused Asad Killed in Encounter After Teen Student’s Death

The murder of 17-year-old Surya Pratap Chauhan in Ghaziabad’s Khoda has taken a major turn after the main accused, Asad, was killed in a police encounter late Saturday night. The incident, which began with a stabbing on May 28, has triggered anger in the locality, protests by residents and family members, and heavy police deployment in the area.

Surya Pratap Chauhan, a Class 11 student and resident of Khoda Colony, was allegedly stabbed during an argument on May 28, the day of Bakrid. He was rushed to hospital with serious injuries but died during treatment the next day. His death led to widespread anger among family members and local residents, who demanded strict action against the accused.

According to police, Asad had been absconding after the incident and a reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for his arrest. Police teams had been carrying out raids and search operations to trace him. Late Saturday night, a joint team of Khoda and Indirapuram police reportedly received information about his movement in the area.

Police officials said Asad was travelling on a motorcycle with another person when he was intercepted. On seeing the police team, he allegedly opened fire. Police claimed they retaliated in self-defence, during which Asad sustained bullet injuries. He was taken to hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A police personnel was also injured during the exchange of fire and is undergoing treatment.

The person accompanying Asad reportedly managed to flee from the spot. Police said efforts are being made to identify and arrest him. A firearm and motorcycle were also recovered from the encounter site, according to officials.
