OpenAI has named former Uber executive Prabhjeet Singh as its managing director for India, marking one of the company's biggest leadership moves in the country so far. With this appointment, OpenAI India MD Prabhjeet Singh will become the organisation's most senior executive on the ground, signalling how seriously the AI giant is treating the Indian market. Singh will officially join OpenAI in September.

Once he takes over, he will report directly to Kiran Mani, OpenAI's Managing Director for the Asia Pacific region.A Priority Market for OpenAIIndia has become one of OpenAI's fastest-growing markets, and this hire reflects that focus.
