Agilus Diagnostics has launched the Idylla system at its Goregaon laboratory in Mumbai. This automated molecular diagnostics platform detects cancer-related genetic mutations in just 2.5 to 3 hours a major step forward for precision oncology in India.
Idylla is a fully automated, cartridge-based testing platform. It handles everything in one workflow from sample processing to nucleic acid extraction, amplification, and detection. This reduces manual steps and human error, delivering accurate results far faster than conventional methods, which can take several days.
Speed matters in cancer care. Identifying key biomarkers quickly helps doctors choose the right targeted treatment sooner. The platform detects several critical mutations:
- EGFR - Lung cancer: common in Indian and Asian populations
- KRAS & NRAS - Key markers in colorectal and pancreatic cancers
- BRAF - Found across tumor types including melanoma and colorectal cancer
The system also detects emerging biomarkers MSI (Microsatellite Instability) and IDH1/IDH2 which are increasingly used to determine eligibility for advanced targeted therapies and immunotherapies.
