The Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex had marked six consecutive weeks of negative closings amid US-Iran geopolitical tensions before that ceasefire rally

Between West Asia Ceasefire Hopes, Q4 Earnings Season, and a Frail Global Picture, Here's What the Numbers Mean for You

After three consecutive sessions of pain driven by failed peace talks and the Hormuz blockade, Indian markets opened sharply higher on Wednesday — cheered by Trump's "close to over" comment and a possible second round of Pakistan talks.

The Sensex opened 2.08 percent lower at 75,937.16, after having closed at a solid 77,550.25 on Friday. The Nifty 50 opened at 23,589.60, down 1.92 percent from its Friday close of 24,050.60.

The BSE Sensex surged nearly 2,700–2,800 points to reclaim the 77,200 mark, while the NSE Nifty 50 crossed the crucial 23,900 level, gaining over 3 percent during the session

The benchmark indices—BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50—remained under pressure throughout the session. The Sensex declined over 600 points during the day, while the Nifty slipped below the crucial 22,800 mark, reflecting cautious sentiment.

Markets remain volatile as geopolitical tensions in West Asia weigh on investor sentiment, even as strong domestic earnings, infra wins, and sectoral resilience offer support.
