Under a ₹21,935 crore deal signed in 2021, India is procuring 56 Airbus C295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force.

- 16 aircraft — delivered directly from Airbus's plant in Seville, Spain.
- 40 aircraft — manufactured right here in India, at Vadodara, Gujarat.

India’s first Made-in-India Airbus C295 military transport aircraft has successfully completed its maiden test flight. This marks the first time a private Indian company has built a military transport aircraft that has entered the flight-testing phase.

Tata + Airbus = A Powerful Partnership
The Tata Airbus partnership is at the heart of this programme. The programme is being developed in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), a subsidiary of the Tata Group.
The C295 Vadodara factory is the first time Airbus has deployed its entire production system for an aircraft outside its home nations. This places India in a very select group of countries globally.
N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, summed it up perfectly:
"With the setting up of the Final Assembly Line in Vadodara, the Tata Group will now be able to take aluminium ingots at one end and turn it into an Airbus C295 aircraft for the Indian Air Force."
