April 9, 2026. Three in the afternoon. That's the moment roughly 7.10 lakh students across Karnataka have been staring at their calendars for. The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) officially confirmed the date and time for the 2nd PUC (Class 12) Examination-1 results this morning. The announcement comes after the results were initially expected on April 7 but had to be held back — the Model Code of Conduct in force due to Kerala and other state elections meant the state had to delay the declaration through official channels.

The official website is karresults.nic.in. Students will need their registration number. The board has also, for the first time this year, enabled result access through DigiLocker — a move that gets rid of waiting in queues for physical marks cards. Students can download their provisional marksheet digitally, which is a genuine step forward for a board that has historically moved slowly on tech adoption. The results will also be available via SMS: type KAR12 followed by your registration number and send it to 56263.

A total of 7,10,363 students registered for Exam-1 from 5,174 colleges across Karnataka. The 2nd PUC examinations were held from February 28 to March 17, 2026. Last year, the pass percentage came in at 73.45 percent. This year, there's reason to expect that number to be a little different — because the board changed the passing criteria. Students now need just 30 percent in each subject (written component) and 33 percent overall to be declared as having passed. Earlier, the bar was 35 percent. That sounds like a small shift, but for thousands of students sitting on the borderline, it could make the difference between clearing and heading for supplementary exams.

About those supplementary exams — technically, they don't exist anymore. Karnataka has replaced the old supplementary system with three annual examinations. Under this system, a student's best score across Exam-1, Exam-2, and Exam-3 counts. Exam-2 is scheduled from April 25 to May 8, 2026. So if today's result isn't what a student hoped for, there are two more shots. This change was introduced to reduce the pressure on students and improve overall outcomes. Whether it actually does that remains to be seen — but it's a more sensible framework than the old pass-or-repeat model.

The toppers list across Science, Commerce, and Arts streams will also be released either with the result or shortly after. Last year, Amulya Kamath topped Science with 599 out of 600 marks. Deepshree led Commerce, and Sanjana Bai topped Arts. This year, as has been the case historically, girls are widely expected to outperform boys. The trend has held for several years now and it's unlikely to reverse this cycle.

For students who are unhappy with their scores, the board will open a revaluation window after results are declared. Revaluation results are expected by June 2026. And for students who passed, the real scramble begins now — CET (Common Entrance Test) applications, NEET preparation, JEE paper 2 registrations. The results today are not an end. They are a starting gun.
