Russia held the world's first symbolic wedding between two humanoid robots at Moscow's Pushkin Library. The groom is Robert an office worker and blogger. The bride is Matilda a ballerina. A robot dog named Dogmatik brought the wedding bracelets to the stage on a tray. They exchanged AI-generated vows. They danced. The internet lost its mind.
Officiant Maria Pantyukhina presided over the ceremony. She officially declared Robert and Matilda "robot spouses."

Both robots were first introduced at Russia's St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in 2026. The wedding was their second public appearance together.
This was not a legal marriage. No country recognises robot marriages. It was a tech showcase just dressed up as a wedding.
The ceremony was planned to show how far humanoid robotics has come. Robert and Matilda coordinated movement, responded to the ceremony and danced together after the vows.
Five years ago, this was science fiction. Today it is a public event at a library in Moscow with a robot dog as the ring-bearer.
